“WOW! He is only 25 with a house in the suburbs near NYC, a brand new shinny car and just got back from a Caribbean vacation?  He must be rich! Nope, he’s living in the WOD (World of Debt). Not looking to own anything, just trying to make the next repayment.”

About JC and Win Over Debt:

Hey there,

JC here (Chief WOD, in a World of Debt or Winning over Debt, your choice), to welcome you to my online home (My Casa, Su Casa).

In 2017, after a lot of soul searching, I decided to create a blog to chronicle my ongoing struggles with debt, which lead to bankruptcy, and also share my continue successes as a fanatic consumer of personal finance knowledge.  In doing so, I intend to advise others of my epic failures, hopeful that it can help those going through similar situations grow stronger, or better yet, educate other before they make the same mistakes.

My guiding principles for the website:

  • Share: My financial mistake and successes.
  • Educate: on the toxic effects of financial mismanagement.
  • Advocate: on the amazing life financial independence can provide.
  • Help: Distill all the crazy sounding jargon that makes “money” sound so foreign/complicated, when it really doesn’t have to be.

What this website is NOT:

  1. This site is for informational purposes only! Please don’t take it as official legal, financial, or tax advice for your personal situation.
  2. I’m not an expert, just another guy in a personal journey for financial independence.

That Dude JC:

Damn! How time flies, it feels like just yesterday I was graduating from college ready to take on the world, wholehearted expecting to own my own successful company or at the very least rise to the C-suite corporate role by my mid-30s, naive ambitious bastard indeed. That was 2001 by the way, 16 years later I find myself owning up to the real fact (not alternative fact) that today I stand with a negative net worth. Which means that as financial valuations goes, that immature kid was worth more back then ($zero), than I am today. Ouch! That really sucks.

Where I go for here? That remains to be seen, but I welcome you to fight with me in my relentless battles with debt (kicking debt’s a$$), growing valuable assets and my expedition to a new undiscovered (at least not by me) world of financial independence.

Enjoy,

JC – J. Candela
